Infection Control Coordinator monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and contain outbreak. Reviews sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed. Being an Infection Control Coordinator provides related education to staff. Prepares simple cultures as needed for environmental and individual studies. Additionally, Infection Control Coordinator evaluates sterilization and disinfection methods and recommends changes as necessary. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Coordinator contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. The Infection Control Nurse will serve as a facilitator, educator, and resource for leadership and staff relating to Evidence-based Practice Infection Prevention. Will plan, develop, facilitate, and coordinate the Infection Prevention and Control Program for Three Crosses as well as ensures compliance with the requirements of CMS, Joint Commission, Public Health Department, and other applicable regulatory and/ or accrediting agencies.
Education and Experience Minimum Requirements
- Required: Associates Degree of Nursing
- Required: Current State RN License
- Required: 5 years of progressive acute care nursing experience.
- Required: Current BLS Certification
- Preferred: CIC Certification
