Assistant Director Nursing Quality and Infection Control
Job Purpose
The Assistant Director, Nursing Quality and Infection Control provides sophisticated tools, resources, analysis and reporting to support nursing staff in providing high quality patient care. Nurses are in a pivotal position to improve the quality of patient care through patient safety interventions and strategies, and they are critical to the surveillance and coordination of quality of care that increases opportunities for improvement while decreasing adverse health outcomes. The Assistant Director, Nursing Quality and Infection Control is responsible for: supporting nursing staff in protecting their patients from errors, injuries, accidents, and infection promoting the translation of research-based evidence into practice, making care safer, of higher quality, and more accessible, equitable, and affordable, providing monitoring, tracking, analysis and reporting of patient safety, quality, and infection control, and increasing staff critical thinking and decision-making skill, making the professional role of nursing staff evident in interactions with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team. The Assistant Director, Nursing Quality and Infection Control is growing in providing transformational leadership, creating change in individual staff as well as the hospital by leading people to where they need to be to thrive in the future, not just seeking solutions to current problems. Qualifications
Education
Masters degree in nursing
Specialized Knowledge
Experience with psychiatric and substance abuse disorder patient populations
Experience in collection, analysis, and reporting of quality, safety, and/or infection control data
Excel, PowerPoint, R programming, SQL, SAS, SPSS, Jupityr or other analytical and presentation software
Experience in data science preferred
Professional Certification
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut
Certification in Substance abuse disorders or Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
Certification or active progress towards certification in one of the following:
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Nurse Executive, Advanced Certification (NEA-BC)
ANCC Nurse Executive Certification (NE-BC)
AONL Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP)
AONL Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML)
American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL)
Experience
At least 3 years experience as a psychiatric nurse
