Infection Control Manager develops and implements infection control policies designed to reduce or eliminate outbreaks in the facility. Develops and implements facility-wide infection prevention and control measures to protect patients, staff and visitors. Being an Infection Control Manager monitors patient care for compliance with established standards and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control. Develops and provides related education to staff. Additionally, Infection Control Manager complies with state, federal and Joint Commission standards relating to infection control. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. In this role, you will serve as the nursing centers' prevention and control officer and function as a practitioner, resource, consultant, educator and facilitator. Your focus is infection prevention - control activities, outcome - process surveillance, outbreak management and employee health.
    Position Highlights Oversee the nursing centers' Infection Control and Prevention Program to minimize the risk of infection. Manage the employee health program which includes the universal influenza program. Facilitate infection control training for all newly hired employees and conduct annual competency training for nurses administering tuberculosis testing. Review the immunization documentation/status for all new hires with the center to ensure compliance Develop education programs in response infection control needs identified through Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, rounding and center quality measures

    Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing. BSN preferred Infection Control and Prevention certification is strongly preferred. This specialty certification must be obtained within the first 2 years of employment if not already in place A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience is required with a minimum of two years of nursing experience in long-term care nursing. One year experience in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity is preferred. Previous experience in infection control is preferred. Must work flexible hours in order to meet with employees working evening and night shifts.
