Infection Control Manager develops and implements infection control policies designed to reduce or eliminate outbreaks in the facility. Develops and implements facility-wide infection prevention and control measures to protect patients, staff and visitors. Being an Infection Control Manager monitors patient care for compliance with established standards and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control. Develops and provides related education to staff. Additionally, Infection Control Manager complies with state, federal and Joint Commission standards relating to infection control. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Infection Preventionist will coordinate, manage, and implement the Center’s infection prevention and control program. Under the leadership of the Director of Nursing and Administrator, the Infection Preventionist will work directly with all employees, patients, medical providers, and pharmacists to fully implement all aspects of the infection prevention and control program which is designed to comply with all aspects of CDC, CMS, OSHA and other federal and state guidelines for long-term care. The Infection Preventionist will provide training, supervision, and conduct compliance audits within the Center to validate the center’s adherence to the program. In addition, the Infection Preventionist will develop action plans to ensure regulatory compliance, patient, and employee safety.
