Infection Control Manager develops and implements infection control policies designed to reduce or eliminate outbreaks in the facility. Develops and implements facility-wide infection prevention and control measures to protect patients, staff and visitors. Being an Infection Control Manager monitors patient care for compliance with established standards and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control. Develops and provides related education to staff. Additionally, Infection Control Manager complies with state, federal and Joint Commission standards relating to infection control. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Pay Range: $35.47 - $41.12
The base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. Shift differentials have been included in the range. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity and contracts.
Minimum Education Requirement -
Graduate of an accredited program of appropriate medical, nursing or microbiology education and licensed in the state of New York required. BS preferred. Annual continuing education. Familiarity and accessibility to and by staff, physicians, department heads, administration and community healthcare professionals is expected. Skills in interpersonal communication, diplomacy and public relations required. Teaching/learning conceptual knowledge and instructional skills required. Certified in Infection Control (CIC) preferred. Certification required within three years.
