Job Summary:

The Infection Prevention Nurse, reporting to the Manager of Infection Prevention, is responsible for identifying, preventing, and controlling healthcare-related infections in compliance with established protocols. This role involves daily surveillance, data analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure a safe and hygienic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement infection prevention/control policies and procedures, including staff, provider, and patient education.
• Review, record, analyze, and report data on hospital and long-term care-acquired infections, multi-drug-resistant organisms, outbreaks, and communicable disease threats.
• Develop and implement employee health programs and policies, including pre-employment physicals, immunization records, TB tests, and annual health assessments.
• Participate in various committees as directed.
• Record and follow up on work-related injuries, assisting with modified duty/return-to-work programs as needed.
• Provide infection prevention resources, information, and data to department heads, physicians, and medical staff members.
• Conduct annual risk assessments and contribute to the development of Infection Control Plans for different care settings.
• Participate in Infection Control Risk Assessments for construction and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Investigate outbreaks and report findings to the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) as required for both Acute Care and Extended Care Facilities.

Education:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Infection Prevention preferred.

Licenses and Certification:

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
