Information Security Director establishes and administers the overall strategies and procedures for the information security function. Develops and implements information security and disaster recovery programs in accordance with organizational information security standards. Being an Information Security Director evaluates information risk on a regular time schedule and promotes information security awareness within the organization. Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Information Security Director typically reports to top management. The Information Security Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) is a unique hands-on position providing direct support to the assigned client’s classified and controlled unclassified information (CUI) programs to include establishing and administering the client’s classified accredited automated information systems and the unclassified facility network.
The ISSO will serve as the point of contact for all client technical and Information Assurance (IA) matters for assigned systems / areas and will provide subject matter expertise to client personnel and affiliates. Additionally, this position ensures client adherence to the guidance and requirements of the NISPOM (including Chapter 8), the DAAPM, DCID 6/3, ICD 503 and associated NIST publications, as well as customer / contract imposed specific IA directives.
The ISSO position will spend 70% of time engaging in traditional ISSO work to include hardening systems, identifying, and fixing vulnerabilities and weekly auditing and then about 30 % on other hands-on work to include system administration, networking and Helpdesk work.
