    Threat Tec has an immediate opening for a Special Information Systems Security Technician / Security System Administrator (TS/SCI) for a position in support of TRADOC Center of Excellence activities on premises at Fort Novosel, Alabama.

    Background:

    Our client at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Novosel requires the services of a Special Information Systems Security Technician/ Security System Administrator (TS/SCI) who will contribute and support the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command’s (TRADOC) G2 special security program. This is a sensitive position, and the Security Technician/Administrator will need to maintain the highest level of program integrity and demonstrate the importance of safeguarding our nation’s highly classified materials at all levels. This position entails working with the Special Security Officer (SSO) to ensure control of access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and SCI facilities (SCIF) for assigned military, Government, and contractor personnel.

    The Fort Novosel Security Technician/Administrator will enhance the work of TRADOC G2’s Information System Security Officer (ISSO) by researching current policies and procedures, updating, and documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring compliance to DoD security standards. The new hire will be relied upon to assist security personnel regarding satisfying reporting requirements and assisting with developing mitigation plans for security violations and security incidents. The Security Technician/Administrator will implement and ensure compliance with important Federal and DoD security directives, policies, and procedures, such as, the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and DoD Instruction (DoDI) 8500.01, Cybersecurity.

    The Security Technician/Administrator will work with the Fort Novosel security team to administer and manage policies and procedures associated with various information systems across the applicable boundaries to ensure seamless compliance with DoD security policies. These include stand-alone networks and client computers, NIPR and SIPR workstations, and the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communication System (JWICS) network.

    Responsibilities/Duties:

    • Create user accounts; monitor and manage system resources, log files, CPU and disk usage
    • Perform systems backup and recovery procedures writing or modifying basic scripts to resolve performance problems; maintaining system documentation and logs; performing or assisting in troubleshooting problems; maintaining network security including application security anti-virus user authentication
    • Maintain knowledge of current security technologies, applicable laws and regulations in support of Intelligence Community (IC) clients located in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)
    • The Security Technician/Administrator will work closely with the TRADOC G2 ISSO/ISSM concerning accreditation and reaccreditation of classified IS Systems to include user access, auditing, configuration management, documentation, and training in accordance with policies and regulations
    • Maintain and execute continuous monitoring plans (CMP)
    • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and decommissioned in accordance with the system security plan (SSP) and ATO letter
    • Monitor anti-malware software for signs of compromise
    • Update and remediate system Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) items that identify weaknesses and administrative deficiencies identified from various sources, including the Defense Information System Agency’s (DISA’s) Technical Security Guides
    • Investigate and report security violations, and incident reports; collaborate internally and externally to develop and support operational procedures to mitigate risks related to classified data spills, intrusions and unauthorized accesses within Federal compliance guidelines relative to specific Federal agency clients to maintain system integrity and availability
    • Prepare written reports and diagrams of surveys and inspections
    • Maintain security documentation and files in accordance with government requirements
    • Prepare necessary paperwork in support of federal government investigations or annual visits and meets with federal government representatives upon request
    • Conduct software and hardware inventory controls to:
      • Control moveable media imports and exports (e.g. Compact Discs, Digital Video Discs and Hard Drives)
      • Control and document media receipts for media from other facilities
      • Perform media destruction activities and documentation
      • Assist with installation and setup of new hardware, including desktops, servers, and networking equipment
      • Resolve desktop problems and service requests such as software installs
      • Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules
      • Establish system specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements
      • Assist with printer maintenance and support
      • Ability to assist with day-to-day Local Area Network systems administration
      • Ability to perform patching, antivirus scans, antivirus definition updates, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and backup

    Qualifications:

    • An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility
    • Experience in a network/software/hardware support and/or systems administrator role
    • Experience working within a DoD secured facility
    • DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Minimum CompTIA Security CE certification is required (IAT Level II / IAM Level I). Higher-level certifications such as CAP, CASP CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, or CCISO will also be accepted
    • Knowledge of the security authorization processes and procedures as defined by the RMF in NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, and the DCSA Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM)
    • Ability for limited travel to other (U.S.) locations outside the greater Fort Novosel, AL area
