We are seeking a passionate Special Education Consultant (SEC) to provide direct or indirect services 12 days per month. The SEC will be available upon notification from school for consultation when not on-site.
SCHOOL BACKGROUND/PURPOSE
The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School is a Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) school located in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. As a BIE operated school, operated Cheyenne- Butte School is responsible for providing a high quality general education and Eagle Special Education Education programming. The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School-Special Department is seeking an advanced Special Education Teacher/Administrator to provide compliance and student services for K-1st & 7th -12th grade special education student’s services. The certified teacher/administrator will be able to organize, direct and create fluid systems that will benefit staff and students.
PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
The SEC's work is to take place directly or indirectly for the Cheyenne – Eagle Butte School campus on-site or zoom link. The SEC's office or other location will be determined and approved by the School Supervisor.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School Special Education Department is seeking a SEC to assist the school in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Special Education Director due to the permanent full-time position remaining vacant. The SEC must be well versed in State of South Dakota and Federal Special Education laws, rules, regulation and eligibility requirements. Cheyenne-Eagle l Education laws, rules, Butte School will provide a clean and comfortable workspace for contractor while on- site for meetings, evaluations, and student/parent/guardian service provisions and will be provided property and supplies to be utilized at the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School. The primary responsibilities of the Special Education Contractor will include staff development opportunities, parent/guardian engagement, overseeing individual education plans, completing reports according to timeframes, assisting in enforcing policy and procedures, making program recommendations, assuming responsibility for compiling, maintaining and filing all reports, records and other documents, keep informed of federal funding for special education, arrange for transportation for students with disabilities, arrange for residential placement for students with disabilities, inventory all equipment, coordinate speech, psychological and other services needed for students with disabilities and perform any other duty required by administration and meet with administration when needed.
