      SUMMARY:

      This position is accountable for gathering, compiling, and reporting student data to meet the District's State and Federal reporting requirements, and assisting the Information Systems & Services Manager in supporting all Information Systems, including the student, human resources, and financial information systems.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      General Experience:
      Four (4) years of experience in computer or network operations, production control, systems development, information technology analysis and planning involving student information systems.

      Substitutions Allowed:
      College training in computer science, information systems, business or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years for an Associate’s Degree.
      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      1. Knowledge of and ability to use web-based software;
      2. Knowledge of applications, functions and procedures related to area and specific equipment;
      3. Knowledge of data entry methods, procedures and equipment;
      4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel and Access;
      5. Knowledge of Skyward student information systems databases;
      6. Knowledge of State and Federal education student data reporting processes and requirements;
      7. Knowledge of student information systems databases;
      8. Computer skills;
      9. Interpersonal skills;
      10. Oral and written communication skills;
      11. Ability to follow written and oral instructions;
      12. Ability to maintain records and student data base;
      13. Ability to present training in assigned area;
      14. Clerical ability;

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.
      1. Performs all necessary operations of information systems, including the student, financial and human resources information systems and assists in maintaining application software and database integrity, analyzing and troubleshooting information system issues, supporting end-users and anticipating user needs.
      2. Accesses confidential student, financial and human resources information regularly in order to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve system issues, and through backend data manipulation and preparation of a wide variety of data reports.
      3. Manages, configures and supports application software modules used for data import/export procedures, including state and federal reporting. Collaborates with district and building staff to resolve system issues related to state and federal reporting.
      4. Processes necessary end-of-year/cycle data archive and rollover procedures.
      5. Applies knowledge of work being processed to correct system edit errors;
      6. Assists Business, HR, Operations Division and other District staff with student billing processes and requirements as well as a variety of other functions within the SIS system
      7. Assists in insuring the security of student data base systems e.g. Skyward security module;
      8. Assists in the development of procedures as required;
      9. Assists Information Systems manager in meeting deadlines for all mandated State and Federal reporting requirements including but not limited to Federal Child Count, LEP and Economic Indicator, NCLB/AYP, Discipline, Attendance, and Assessment (PARCC)
      10. Assists with Student Information System (SIS) Web page development and maintenance;
      11. Determines most efficient methods for obtaining information;
      12. Determines or recommends how information will be processed (e.g. option determination);
      13. Enters, changes, corrects, updates and retrieves information;
      14. Establishes and maintains procedures for effective work flow;
      15. Instructs others in student information systems procedures and system operation;
      16. Maintains communications with other departments to ensure accuracy in reporting, controlling and distributing information;
      17. Makes recommendations regarding best method for entry, updating and report generation;
      18. Meets deadlines for all mandated State and Federal reporting requirements;
      19. Assists in preparation and maintenance of department procedures and (electronic documentation);
      20. Processes student home school re-alignment;
      21. Processes new school year and summer school setups;
      22. Processes online registration setups;
      23. Processes all periodic ISBE related IT Data extracts and processing;
      24. Modifies automated tasks for new school year;
      25. Manages and remedies daily support tickets;
      26. Organizes and prepares work for input and distribution;
      27. Prepares and maintains department procedures and manuals;
      28. Represents department at meetings;
      29. Trains backups or users in operation of equipment and procedures;
      30. May plan and schedule work to be entered;
      31. Performs related duties as required.
