Director of Information Technology

GWA is an independent, Pre-K-12, independent, college-preparatory school located on 61 beautiful acres in Monroe, Georgia, less than one hour from the state capitol of Atlanta.
George Walton Academy seeks an engaging, energetic Director of Information Technology. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Information Technology will provide overall leadership, planning, and day-to-day management of all areas of information technology.
Responsibilities

Working with the school's academic and administrative leadership, provide strategic planning and strong collaborative leadership to set the direction and implement information technologies to support the school's mission

Work with the academic leadership to develop ways and strategies to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum.

Manage all information technology resources including personnel, budgets, network infrastructure, web presence, academic and administrative support systems, and communication services

Manage IT full-time staff and supervise technology support services and facilities including one-to-one technology as well as computer labs

Create and administer the technology operating and capital budgets, and manage all IT-related contracts and services.

Provide and maintain a high-quality technology support environment for all faculty, staff, and students

Establish and enforce information technology standards, procedures, and policies.

Manage and maintain all network hardware, software, infrastructure, operations, and documentation

Manage the school's current inventory of physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, VMware)

Demonstrate the ability to manage all levels of network devices such as firewalls, switches, and wireless access points

Manage all software services such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, File and Print Services

Manage the school's 1-1 laptop program in the middle school and upper school, including purchasing and deploying new laptops, end-user technical support, accurate record keeping, and warranty replacements

Managing the school's Google Workspace, Office 365, and Active Directory systems, including user management, security, training, and support

Managing outside vendors such as ISPs, and various other MSPs to ensure proper operations

Manage various other systems such as our MDM platform, Papercut Print Server, and Anti-Virus software

Provide A/V setup and operation during special events (which sometimes occur outside of normal working hours)

Manage the integrated access control systems and security surveillance systems

Manage communications contracts and communications services, including phone, email, and internet services.

Maintain intranet sites, domain registrations, internet and intranet security services, and web filtering capabilities.

Manage all levels of helpdesk support services for students and employees

Manage all technology-related projects, including the purchase of equipment and installing hardware and software

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

Five-plus years working in or leading a school technology department

Organized self-starter who enjoys assisting faculty and students with their learning

Experience with databases, network administration (including wireless and firewalls), G Suite for Education administration, and information technology resources and services is important.

Strong familiarity with typical school hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, interactive projectors,) and typical software (Apple platform, G Suite including Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides, Microsoft Suite, web-based applications, licensing, databases, etc.)
