Information Technology Director establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the information technology department. Analyzes the needs of different departments and determines ways to meet business objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems. Being an Information Technology Director manages the research and selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Information Technology Director typically reports to a CIO. The Information Technology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     SALARY: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 / year

    GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
    The Director of Information Technology (IT) is the primary contact between information technology and all
    other CNCC departments. The Director of IT works closely with the state office and vendors to provide a stable
    network and working computer systems, updates and solutions at each campus location. The Director of IT
    needs to have an understanding of Information Technology systems at each campus location and the ability to
    resolve issues with those systems.

    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    Strategy & Planning

    • Develop and communicate IT related devices, software, and policy clearly and understandably to
    students and other departments as needed
    • Understand the needs of other departments and strive to meet them in a complete and timely manner
    • Prepare and ensure the deployment of new technologies
    Operational Management
    • Install, configure and maintain PC, server, and networking hardware
    • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new hardware, features, and applications in conjunction with

    business leaders and department managers.



    • Oversee development IT projects and staff
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software conflicts
    • Work with outside parties to install, repair, or otherwise provide support for IT needs beyond the
    department’s skill level or ability
    • Organize and complete cross campus hardware/software rollouts
    • Train others in the department and when needed offer training for other department


    Additional Duties

    • Several other duties as needed extending to but not limited to, working with security software and
    hardware, diagnosing and repairing audio/video equipment, and working with analog phone lines.

    ESSENTIAL/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    This job requires any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and/or experience as
    indicated below:
    Education & Training

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent. An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or
    equivalent, and 5 years of experience in this field can be substituted for Bachelor’s Degree in
    Computer Science.

    Licensure/Certification
    • Valid Colorado driver license

    Equipment & Skills
    • High degree of comfort with understanding of multilayer/hardware based L2/L3 switching, routing,

    TCP/IP, NAT, OSPF, STP, MSTP, DHCP, 802.1q, LACP, IOS ACLs, DNS/BIND.
    Prior Related Experience: All successful applicants will have at least 3 years’ experience with a
    combination of the following:

    • Microsoft and Cisco server-class operating systems, rack server hardware technology, network hardware
    technology, desktop systems and virtualization environments.
    • Scripting languages: Python, Ruby, Powershell or bash.
    • Linux servers, applications and software: Apache, nginx, LDAP, GIT, GITHub, Debian.
    • Web related applications and software: Wordpress, Joomla, PHP, CSS.
    • Single sign-on (SSO) technologies: CAS, SAML, OpenID.
    • Educational software: Ellucian Banner, Luminis uPortal and LMS.
    • Database administration, design, or reporting: SQL and MySQL.

    • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or other related field.
