MSU IT is looking for a strategic and experienced leader to join our Information Security Team as the Assistant Director for Governance, Compliance, and Risk (GRC). In this role, you will lead a talented group of professionals focusing on advising the university on risks to technology systems and services, and proactive measures to ensure information technology compliance and security throughout the university. The Assistant Director for GRC will work closely with the Interim Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in directing activities of the team including strategy, workforce planning, finances, policy alignment, tool selection, risk assessments, and GRC awareness training.
In this role, you will align with MSU IT leadership to deliver expertise in enterprise practices for GRC, including effective development and management of the program, contributing subject matter expertise for university and departmental policies and procedures, implementing and maintaining systems or processes to monitor compliance, creating playbooks, guidelines and tactical response plans, maintaining current knowledge of global regulatory requirements, ensures security program alignment with security international frameworks and state regulations, executing scenario planning and tabletop exercises, collaborates with general counsel and university legal advisors to ensure legal compliance, evaluates and secures cyber-insurance coverage, and maintains the appropriate risk posture for the applicable enterprise portfolio. In collaboration with our MSU IT communications team and the CISO, creates communication responses, reporting, and campus-wide messaging. This role will collaborate with MSU IT executive leadership, as well as campus stakeholders, to ensure GRC program strategy is risk-based, aligned with global, federal, state, and university regulatory standards and is in alignment with the business functions of the university.
This role requires onsite presence at our East Lansing, Michigan campus. After the onboarding process, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (mix of onsite and remote) work modality.
