Information Technology Director establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the information technology department. Analyzes the needs of different departments and determines ways to meet business objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems. Being an Information Technology Director manages the research and selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Information Technology Director typically reports to a CIO. The Information Technology Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Information Technology Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Information Technology Intern - Volunteer

  • The Information Technology (IT) Intern is a non-paid, volunteer position that introduces individuals interested in pursuing a career in IT with the opportunity to gain valuable job experience and/or college credit.

    CLASS DEFINITION:
    The Intern will be assigned to assist the IT Department and works under the supervision of the IT Director, IT Manager, and IT staff.

    YOUR ROLE:
    As an Intern, you will have the opportunity to expand the foundations of your IT knowledge. INTERNSHIP HIGHLIGHTS:
    • Introduction to on-site computer hardware and software maintenance.
    • Training on troubleshooting techniques and solutions.
    • Instruction on the basics of Active Directory both on-prem and cloud-based.
    • Understand the value of communicating technological issues and other solutions quickly and effectively to staff.
    • Help Desk Support: Perform professional work in the support of computer workstations and mobile devices.
    • Network/Server Administration: Perform professional work in the support of networking basics and the fundamentals of supporting a hybrid on-prem and cloud-based Active Directory environment.

    OTHER JOB-RELATED DUTIES:
    Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION:
    Possession of a High School Diploma or GED. Some college education is preferred.
      
    EXPERIENCE:
    Must possess a high degree of computer literacy with all Windows applications.
     
    REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
    Possession of a valid California Class "C" driver's license. 

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must be 18 years or older. 
    • Of good moral character, no criminal history, and excellent references.
    • Volunteer work hours are flexible. Generally, volunteer hours will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with some evening hours.

    REQUISITE ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
    • Modern office methods, practices, and procedures. 
    • Correct English usage including spelling, grammar, and punctuation. 
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 
    • Intermediate to advanced level experience with all Windows applications.
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, City officials, and the public.

    PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
    Work Is primarily performed in an office environment requiring prolonged sitting or standing; walking, kneeling, crouching, squatting, stooping, and bending; Inputting data into a computer terminal; exposure to computer glare, vibrations, and pitch; lifting, carrying, and moving objects totaling approximately 25 pounds in weight; and have mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
