Education and Experience: Associate's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and five (5) years of recent experience in wireless and/or wired telecommunication support services.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Special Requirements: Be available for work beyond standard workday or workweek hours as necessary; subject to on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Special Requirements: Applicants for positions assigned to the Department of Information Technology Services must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check within the first six months from hire and maintain CJIS eligibility. Under general supervision, provides telecom and multi-vendor system evaluation and support, problem resolution, and manages telecom service and billing records.
Oversees wired and wireless telecommunication services and works with telecommunications industry vendors/partners to order products or services as part of service delivery. Including: examining and processing orders, tracking deliveries, and performing data organization and entry tasks required to monitor and communicate the progress of orders while collaborating with technical teams to solve problems as quickly as possible. Respond to internal and external customer queries in a timely and accurate manner, via chat, email, or phone.
Works with the Information Technology divisions, and City Departments to obtain services and resolve complex telecom service issues. Provides open issues updates, and status reports, exchanges relevant information with management and project teams, and meets timelines. Provides accurate time estimates for tasks, identifies impacted teams, and notifies management and team members of potential issues. Assists with quotes, bids, contracts, billing, and account management for all of the telecommunications contracts. Collaborate with Telco engineering and field management personnel to ensure access/transport circuits are delivered per expected delivery order schedules.
Develops support documentation, standard operating procedures, and deliverable plans for system implementation and operational support. Works independently and makes appropriate decisions based on experience; identifies and defines technical problems and errors and implements technical solutions to solve problems. Confers with senior technical staff to resolve complex problems and tracks the problem until it has been resolved.
Maintain and evaluate telecommunications service records for customers, including wired and wireless services, and assist with customer requests. Includes: evaluating telecom carrier statements, assisting in managing the inventory of telecommunication services, reviewing contracts, reviewing and paying invoices, and managing billing disputes. Assist with financial reporting including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, & responding to customer requests. Perform Monthly invoice validation and processing, tracking of orders and billing disputes, and monthly financial reporting.
