INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST performs overall information systems planning, implementation and administrative procedures in a variety of IT functional areas. Provides operational infrastructure support, maintenance, troubleshooting to ensures optimum utilization of IT resources. Being an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST may be involved in hardware/software/vendor selection, security, training, coordination and scheduling of IT initiatives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST typically reports to a supervisor. The INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     OVERVIEW:
    Information technology specialists are responsible for maintaining, processing, and troubleshooting military computer systems/operations.

    JOB DUTIES:
    • Maintenance of networks, hardware, and software.
    • Provide customer and network administration services.
    • Construct, edit, and test computer programs.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Those who want to serve must first take the ASVAB , a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.
     
     Ages 17-34; 35-39 Require a Waiver
     
    TRAINING:
    Job training for an information technology specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.

    Some of the skills you’ll learn are:
    • Use of computer consoles and peripheral equipment.
    • Computer systems concepts.
    • Planning, designing, and testing computer systems.

    HELPFUL SKILLS:
    • Interest in computer science.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Experience in the installation of computers.

    REQUIRED ASVAB SCORE(S) Skilled Technical (ST): 95

    COMPENSATION:
