Information Technology Supervisor supervises employees of the information technology department in accordance with organizational policies and goals. Ensures proper functioning of the organization's information systems and makes upgrades as necessary. Being an Information Technology Supervisor helps business operations groups utilize information systems to improve their efficiency. Keeps computer equipment, hardware, and software updated to meet organizational needs. Additionally, Information Technology Supervisor follows appropriate programming procedures. Responds to complex, escalated matters and ensures projects are conducted effectively and recommendations and reports are accurate and timely. A level II supervisor has authority for personnel actions and oversees most day-to-day operations of group. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Information Technology Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     JOB SUMMARY

    This position supports the University Land Grant Mission by providing information technology support to the Cooperative Extension and Agricultural Research Departments, including providing technology support for scientific equipment, maintaining research computer labs, and provides technology support for the Agricultural Technology Conference Center.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for installation of information technology hardware/software for Cooperative Extension and Agricultural Research personnel.
    • Attends regularly scheduled university technology meetings.
    • Ensures Research and Extension technology items are compliant with University and NIFA standards.
    • Recommends equipment upgrades and surplus equipment.
    • Ensures professional growth through participation in technology related educational workshops.
    • Supports the FVSU Land Grant mission by actively participating in National and Regional Extension meetings and workshops, supporting the 1890 Research and Extension technology programmatic areas, and presenting at National and Regional Conferences.
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or related area with three or more years of experience.
