Injection Molding Machine Operator sets up and operates injection molding machinery to shape plastics. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery. Being an Injection Molding Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Injection Molding Machine Operator requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Injection Molding Machine Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Position Overview:
The Injection Molding Operator is responsible for Inspecting and packaging products as daily production requirements. Along with troubleshooting material and press alarms and restarting the press. Testing products, filling out documentation, and helping with mold change when time allows.
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
· Inspect and package products per daily production demand
· Assist process techs and/or setup techs with preparation for start of work to ensure machines are ready
· Working alongside team members, provide oversight and guidance; prioritize work as necessary; assist with minor faults
· Resets and/or troubleshooting of material alarms
· Resets and/or troubleshooting of press stops
· Assist setup tech with mold changes
· Work with leadership and process tech to assist with ensuring quality product out put
· Assist with review and/or revise of existing documents, processes and/or methods to improve Injection Molding Processes.
· Assist with executing equipment, tooling, and product validation protocols and provide supporting reports to management, quality, and/or maintenance.
· Maintain records of all activities as requested by leadership.
· Maintain a clean and safe work area.
· Wear required PPE.
· Perform duties in a safe manner and observe safety procedures.
· Ensure full adherence to 6S (Safety, Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Expertise:
· 1 years of Injection Molding experience.
· High mechanical aptitude with proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to learn all primary and secondary injection molding equipment and process.
· Ability to use precision measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth and bore indicators, tooling scopes, CMM, etc.
· Ability to read and understand work instructions, perform basic math computations and some experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
· Be able to lift 50 pounds consistently.
· Ability to stand for up to 12 hours.
· Routinely walk, stand, bend, stoop, and twist.
