Inservice Training Director directs the overall design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Establishes a skill assessment process to collect input and identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Inservice Training Director consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Ensures curricula designs support defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Inservice Training Director develops standards and methodology to prepare high-quality outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Oversees and approves the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training. Establishes the appropriate metrics to use for the evaluation of training effectiveness. Analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs and budgets. Evaluates and selects vendors to provide support, training materials, or to conduct training sessions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior director. The Inservice Training Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Inservice Training Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Essential Functions:

    • Identifies and implements system-wide best practices via process, procedures, technology & training, in collaboration with peers, to achieve and maintain safe, reliable electric system operations.
    • Responsible for the design & implementation of the Transmission and Distribution initial and requalification System Operator training programs.
    • Responsible for development and maintenance of Transmission and Distribution system operating procedures for the control centers, including processes with interfacing organizations.
    • Maintain and ensure compliance with industry standards including NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE requirements within the System Operations Training Program and operating procedures; accountable for related audits.
    • Responsible for overseeing the Eversource Switching & Tagging / Authorized Person processes including stakeholder input, required updates, and change management.
    • Responsible for development & implementation of initial & refresher ERP OMS training
    • Responsible for change management associated with Control Center IT applications such as OMS, SCADA, DMS, iTOA along with other electric system IT business applications in collaboration with other stakeholders.
    • Ensure system configuration control is supported through related processes, technology, and station procedures
    • Oversee retention and development of SOTP staff. Assesses the need for, and oversees implementation of, programs to ensure employees possess required technical and behavioral skills to support department responsibilities. Leads, manages, selects, coaches and develops staff.
    • Establishes and monitors goals, policies, plans, standards, performance objectives and budget for SOTP. Analyzes and recommends resource levels to plan, develop and implement policies and practices. Establishes operating and financial objectives and aligns organizational and corporate goals.

    Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

    Technical Knowledge/Skill:

    • Requires extensive knowledge of the design, operations and maintenance of substation and electric Transmission and Distribution infrastructure.
    • Requires comprehensive knowledge of transmission & distribution system procedures, processes, operations, and technology including SCADA and OMS systems.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of industry standards including NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE requirements
    • Requires experience with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)

    Education:

    • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
    • MS in Engineering or MBA preferred.

    Experiences:

    • Minimum of twelve (12) years managing or supervising groups engaged in transmission or distribution operations, with a minimum of five (5) years leading and managing electric system operations, switching and outage management. Control center experience, and responsibility for training & procedure programs preferred.
    • Certification as a NERC Certified Transmission Operator preferred

    Working Conditions:

    • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
    • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
    • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
