Installation & Maintenance Technician Director directs the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of switches, cables, and other telecommunications equipment in the field to ensure optimum network usage and quality. Ensures compliance to customer specifications and company requirements. Being an Installation & Maintenance Technician Director leads all functions and ensures they are completed on time and within budget. Oversees the scheduling of installation and maintenance services. Additionally, Installation & Maintenance Technician Director requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Installation & Maintenance Technician Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Work Inspector ~ without more than normal supervision: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Work Inspector - diagnose, plan, and inspect construction projects with standard designs and modifications. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
    • PHYSICAL EFFORT: The inspector performs work on hard surfaces and in areas that require him/her to stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. He/she frequently lifts and carries parts, equipment, and packed containers that weigh up to 40 pounds.
    • WORKING CONDITIONS: The work generally is done inside areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Must possess a current state driver's license. Occasionally may drive vehicle with standard transmission and/or four (4) wheel drive. The inspector may work outside or in areas that are drafty, hot, and poorly lighted. The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. Work is confine, cramped spaces, heights may exceed 20 ft. and remote location. Will be required to use safety equipment such as hard hat, gloves, hearing protections, safety shoes, and respirators. May be required to work overtime. Able to work under pressure of time constraints and heavy workloads. Requires normal color vision, able to distinguish primary colors. He/she is frequently exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Government is not required to furnish test equipment and tools.
