    JOB SUMMARY
    The Maintenance Technician contributes to the Port’s operations by primarily performing routine and/or repetitive maintenance tasks related to building maintenance, general maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction duties. This position must be able to operate all types of tools and equipment assigned to the position. Work under supervision and perform a variety of skilled maintenance duties.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks related to construction, alterations and repairs within the Facilities segment of the Maintenance Team.
    • Assists with repairs, alterations and installation work to buildings, structures, irrigation systems and equipment involving carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing and other manual building trades.
    • Help with building repairs and other facilities related maintenance
    • Complete required reports to maintain preventative maintenance schedules
    • Understand and follow WISHA and L&I work place safety rules
    • May also perform duties in one or more of the following areas: shop, electrical, and/or grounds.
    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • 1-2 years of vocational education in related trades preferred
    • At least one year of construction and repair experience including plumbing, carpentry, concrete, dock and float repair, fire sprinkler system maintenance and operation of a variety of construction equipment.
    • Valid Washington State Drivers License by time of hire. Good driving record.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    Required:
    • Ability to secure and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certifications.
    • Ability to secure a Washington State Labor and Industries flagging and traffic control card.
    • Ability to secure a Washington State Labor and Industries forklift operator’s card.
    • A Washington State CDL endorsement or ability to secure.
    • Washington Boater Safety Education ID Card.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    This position involves heavy physical labor, including walking, standing, crawling, squatting, lifting, bending, and pushing/pulling. Incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds on a regular basis. Incumbent must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
