The Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment is the administrator responsible for organizing and coordinating activities required for campus-wide assessment, institutional research, and institutional effectiveness.
Institutional Effectiveness
- Supports continuous curricular and co-curricular academic program assessment and improvement of student learning through consultation, mentoring and hands-on training.
- Leads the development, organization, analysis and reporting of student learning and institutional outcomes to support planning activities.
Assessment
- Collaboratively plans, organizes, and coordinates assessment of academic and institutional initiatives.
- Develops and establishes operating goals, policies, and procedures for the Institutional Effectiveness office to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
Data Management
- Serves as primary institutional research contact and maintains institutional data library.
- Records, stores, manages, and disseminates confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.
- Serves as primary data coordinator for the accrediting and government agencies.
Policy Management
- Stores, manages and maintains all institutional policy and procedures manuals.
- Supports the development of university policies and procedures.
- Serves on planning and policy- making committees as appropriate.
Reporting
- Regularly communicates assessment results.
- Interprets assessment findings and prepares an annual institutional effectiveness and assessment report to summarize such findings.
- Coordinates all assessment and institutional effectiveness activities needed for compliance and accreditation.
Monitoring
- Responsible for monitoring and providing feedback on the assessment activities of each instructional program and administrative unit annually.
- Provides the leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of assessment activities and the interpretation of data.
Mission
- Provides creative and innovative leadership that positively contributes to the university’s culture.
- Systematically integrates assessment and continuous quality improvement into the operation of the university consistent with stated mission, vision and values.
Strategic Support
- Supports the ongoing development and implementation outcomes assessment programs for academic and administrative units in support of the university's strategic plan.
- Provides strategic consultation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of existing operations, systems, and procedures.
Project Management
- Ensures a systematic method of completing assigned projects within agreed upon time frames.
- Revises, updates, and reports project modifications to the appropriate stakeholders.
Compliance
- Maintains current knowledge with regard to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures required actions are taken to maintain institutional compliance and accreditation.
Miscellaneous
- Performs additional tasks as needed and/or requested.
- Participates in functions and activities that advance the mission, values and vision of the program and university.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the university community.
- Demonstrated ability for effective organizational skills and ability to connect to the institutional strategy while displaying attention to detail.
- Knowledge of state and federal postsecondary education accountability initiatives and trends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
