    Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field including computer science, data science, or administration.
    • Experience in educational administration, district/school leadership in testing/evaluation, formative assessment, relevant educational research, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Preferred Master's in Educational Administration, Testing and Evaluation, or related field.

    Reports to:  Chief of Schools

     

    Responsibilities, Duties, & Expectations:

     

    • Develop and implement data management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the effective collection, storage, analysis, and visualization of data.
    • Collaborate with other departments to support data integration.
    • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all systems and platforms.
    • Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures to ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Analyze/interpret assessment and strategic plan results to prepare/present informative reports and statistics to the Board of Education, district staff, school staff, and various stakeholders in an accurate, understandable, and timely manner.

     

      • Manage and coordinate all student survey development and implementation.
      • Provide direct support to school leaders on the use of data to drive MTSS processes and procedures.

     

    • Conduct regular audits and assessments of data management and visualization processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimize performance.
    • Based on the state testing schedule and local assessment needs, work with the Curriculum and Instruction team to create the district’s annual testing schedule.
    • Develop and oversee the district's assessment and accountability programs which includes national assessments, state-required assessments, and local assessments.
    • Support the activities of school-based test coordinators in the coordination of the securing test coordinators and facilities.

     

      • Provide direct supervision and guidance to the District SIS Coordinator.

     

    • Act as a liaison with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction regarding the implementation of student testing programs and the reporting of results.
    • Develop and conduct professional development for the improvement of teaching practices in the areas of assessment construction, assessment administration, evaluation of results, and how to use results in school improvement efforts.

     

     

    Other Functions:  As determined by the superintendent or designees, this position may be delegated additional duties and responsibilities to assist with the overall success of the school district.

     

    Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

    • Requires the ability to compare and/or judge readily observable, functional, structural, or combined characteristics of data.
    • Ability to quantify and represent non-traditional metrics of accountability related to the district’s strategic plan.
    • Ability to maintain workflow in a fast-paced environment and quickly develop data reports for decision-making.
    • Documented computer skills including knowledge of the Google Suite of tools as well as data management software.
    • Ability to lead others in understanding data, accountability models, and/or provide professional learning to turn data into actionable steps to drive student outcomes.
    • High-functioning problem-solving ability is required to work with a diverse group of individual and/or teams internal and external to the school district; to diligently work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes. 
    • Independent problem-solving skills are required to analyze issues and create action plans.
    • Specific ability-based competencies are required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, which include but are not limited to: meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working with multiple projects; working with detailed information/data and maintaining accurate records; maintaining confidentiality; facilitation communication between persons with frequently divergent positions; adaptability, decision making; and leadership and direction.


    Terms of Employment:  Director III - MGSD Salary Schedule, 12 month position.  Full benefits package offered with full time employment.
