    SUMMARY
    The Executive Director is responsible for guiding the collection and analysis of data on a wide range of institutional activities and producing required periodic reports and special studies. They will play a key role in ensuring that institutional research, assessment, planning and compliance are effective and aligned with the College's mission, vision, and strategic plan. Serves as a member of the College’s senior leadership team.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Develops and implements a comprehensive program of data collection, institutional research, assessment and planning designed to support the mission of the College, meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders, and informs data-driven decision-making throughout the College.
    • Serves as institutional data director to create and conduct timely reporting of institutional data, benchmarks, dashboards, and other performance indicators necessary to meet reporting requirements.
    • Organizes the overall effort of institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, assessment, and evaluation activities, including measuring, monitoring, and reporting of institutional effectiveness. Coordinates timely and accurate reporting, and timely responses to applicable data requests using statistical and analytical tools; accepts final responsibility for any problems that arise with reporting.
    • Provides leadership, mentors and supervises staff; motivates and empowers staff to create environments that promote innovation; sets standards for delivering quality services.
    • Oversees and ensures compliance and completion of all accreditation initiatives, the preparation of the Institutional Assessment Plan and Strategic Plan/core themes, ensuring compliance with NWCCU requirements, and serves as FVCC’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO).
    • Coordinates research data to provide vision and direction for decision-making related to student success and retention, assessment of student learning, accreditation, enrollment management, and institutional planning and effectiveness.
    • Works with faculty, staff, and students to design and implement assessment tools to meet the needs of the college and NWCCU accreditation requirements.
    • Collaborates effectively, serves on committees and may chair related committees.
    • Participates actively and with initiative in continuous improvement efforts to provide efficient and quality research and economic services; leads the review of institutional research processes; creates and implements a communication plan that includes periodic reports documenting the college's progress in institutional effectiveness.
    • Formulates, implements, and manages initiatives and projects as they relate to program assessment/evaluation, reporting, and analysis.
    • Provides professional skills in conducting research, coordinating of communication/publications and projects, and analyzing data to aid administrators in the decision-making process.
    • Provides expert consultation on data management and data analysis and interpretation and recommends changes to improve data quality and integrity.
    • Directs analytical studies on student enrollment, retention, and graduation in support of enrollment initiatives and disseminates relevant research findings.
    • Collects and submits institutional data, validates its accuracy, analyzes it, and provides it for internal and external reports; maintains assessment databases; analyzes data, presents reports and studies. Responsible for state/federal reporting requirements.
    • Works with academic, student support and administrative units of the college to develop useful accountability measures and implement improvement action plans.
    • Supports institutional planning and goal setting by assessing the college’s strategic plan and ensure that the strategic plan is integrated with college and state planning initiatives.
    • Directs institutional research programs and contributes to academic program planning, evaluation, and other activities related to the College's mission. Analyzes and draws conclusions from own and others' research, identifying key impacts on retention and graduation rates.
    • Works collaboratively with senior management on issues of assessment, including general institutional effectiveness and measures of student success and learning.
    • Designs and oversees research efforts with an institutional scope and assists departments and offices with focused research needs.
    • Coordinates program reviews and accreditation reporting.
    • Manages institutional research data systems and other resources.
    • Maintains standard management information and official statistics for internal and external reporting; develops procedures to support analytical, planning, and assessment functions in student and academic areas.
    • Manages sensitive and confidential matters; and maintains compliance with appropriate procedures, rules, mandates, and regulations.
    • Provides institutional and divisional performance monitoring, information gathering and reporting.
    • Networks and collaborates with local employers and community on workforce trends and economic development efforts; provides economic context and employer insights to FVCC programs; works with program advisory committees.
    • Provides research and support to identify and pursue development of new programs.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current research, trends and innovative practices in higher education and develops predictive analytics to support college-wide strategic goals, objectives and initiatives.
    • Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed.
    • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College.
    • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
    • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
    • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing to the community in college-related activities
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
    • Reports to the President.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, research, or economic-related field; AND a minimum of five years of closely related work experience; OR,
    • Master’s degree in mathematics, research, or economic-related field; AND a minimum of three years of closely related work experience; OR;
    • PhD degree in an area of mathematics, research, economics, or data analysis.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Work experience in research, economics, and data analysis in a higher education setting
    • Work experience in various technology applications related to data analysis, research, and economics.
    • Experience in the collection, management, analyses, and presentation of data in an educational setting.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the role and mission of community colleges.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Proficiency with statistical tools such as SPSS, SAS, R or similar tools
    • Ability to work productively in highly collaborative environments that maximize autonomy and decision-making.
    • Proven record of successfully managing projects, working independently, and analyzing data

    • Requires high level data analysis skills, understanding of academic research design and the process of conducting such research.

    • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the public, donors, students, potential students and College community.

    • This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects
