Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty members utilizing information technology in support of teaching and learning. Develops computer training materials and assists in teaching how to set up and use computer applications and related technologies. Being an Instructional Technology Specialist may troubleshoot technical problems and train junior staff members. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Instructional Technology Specialist typically reports to a manager. The Instructional Technology Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     OVERVIEW:
    Information technology specialists are responsible for maintaining, processing, and troubleshooting military computer systems/operations.
     
    JOB DUTIES:
    • Maintenance of networks, hardware, and software.
    • Provide customer and network administration services.
    • Construct, edit, and test computer programs.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Those who want to serve must first take a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.
     
     Ages 17-34; 35-39 Requires a Waiver.
     
    TRAINING:
    Job training for an information technology specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.
     
    Some of the skills you’ll learn are:
    • Use of computer consoles and peripheral equipment.
    • Computer systems concepts.
    • Planning, designing, and testing computer systems.

    HELPFUL SKILLS:
    • Interest in computer science.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Experience in the installation of computers.

     REQUIRED ASVAB SCORE(S)Skilled Technical (ST):
    95.
