Instructor - Accounting teaches courses in the discipline area of accounting. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Accounting provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Accounting typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • Summary: Responsible for developing, organizing and implementing a functional and interactive curriculum, lesson plans and activities that provides an active, encouraging, supportive, and positive environment to ensure individuals with disabilities make progress towards achieving their functional and individualized goals and objectives. Evaluates each individual’s progress and adapts instruction and/or makes suggestions regarding the need to modify the goal and/or instruction method. Documents outcomes and progress towards goals and objectives in compliance with regulatory/licensing requirements.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Productivity and Reliability:

    • Implements afunctional and interactive curriculum including lesson plans and activities provided in an environment that supports and is adapted for individuality and diversity.

    • Monthly lesson plans will be developed collaboratively with Director and other team members at least two weeks before the start of each month. All lesson plans must be readily accessible and maintained as part of programming documentation.

    • Actively engages, assists, verbalizes, performs and models all training instruction activities throughout the entire program day.

    • Develops goals and corresponding objectives for each individual served.

    • Maintains accurate and cumulative records on each individual documenting their progress towards achieving their objectives in compliance with ESA and the regulatory/licensing agencies;

    • Submits all required reporting in a timely manner within the timeframe established by ESA and regulatory/licensing requirements.

    • Implements and/or provides therapy, medical, and personal care as identified by team for each individual served.

    Availability:

    • Complies with prescribed work schedule as assigned by Supervisor. The work schedule may vary based upon workload and organizational needs.

    • Attends afterhours events or meetings as requested

    • Arrives prepared for scheduled or assigned job duties and responsibilities.

    • Complies with organizational and departmental attendance and leave policies.

    Instruction Area Management:

    • Instructs individuals by using a variety of methodologies, best practices ranging from individualized instruction, small groups and/or classroom style instruction based on the needs of each individual.

    • Develops materials and equipment that can be adapted to each individual’s learning style

    • Ensures that all individuals remain actively engaged in meaningful activities.

    • Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse.

    • Maintains a safe and organized instruction area free of clutter that supports functional learning.

    • Ensures staff to individuals served ratios (1-10) is maintained at all times in the instruction area.

    • Utilizes positive behavior intervention techniques to manage and promote improved behavior, remaining respectful of the individual’s diversity and individuality.

    • Monitors at all times the whereabouts of all individuals served who are assigned to the Instructor.

    • Works collaboratively with DSP to ensure all individuals served are actively participating and engaged in their program instruction and activities.

    Interpersonal Relationships:

    • Uses a team approach to support and improve the health, behavioral and learning needs of the individuals.

    • Maintains a professional working relationship with all individuals served, co-workers and administrative staff.

    Professionalism/Initiative:

    • Maintains professional competence and compliance with regulatory training requirements by participation in trainings offered by Easterseals, other sources and self-study.

    • Uses professional development to identify, develop, and initiate new training opportunities to enhance the quality of services.

    • Responds professionally to administrative requests and directions.

    • Provides a timely and professional response and/or action to individuals served and stakeholders.

    • Communicates overall program mission, focus of the instruction area, successes and other related information to promote the program to prospective referrals, referral sources, and external stakeholders.

    Other duties as assigned to include but not limited to and are subject to change:

    • Monitors the need for assistance and/or behaviors during paid meal period and breaks, and responds to requests for assistance from individuals served, co-workers or supervisors.

    • Demonstrates ability and flexibility to transfer professional knowledge, temporarily or permanently, to multiple instruction areas based on workload and organizational needs.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities include oversight of all DSP employees assigned to area; directing of work; ensuring safety of all individuals; ensuring delivery of active programming; addressing complaints and resolving problems within the instruction area. Reports any concerns regarding employees or adults served to their direct supervisor.

    Compliance/HIPAA:

    While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.

    Employee has access to protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person, except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.

    Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Education and/or Experience:

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) with course work in education or related field; teaching license preferred or a high school diploma with 5 years of verifiable experience in teaching environment, e.g., assessments, development of goals, learning strategies/instruction and classroom/behavior management.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to prepare step by step lesson plans that correspond to curriculum and to implement curriculum to meet goals and objectives of each individual served. Ability to maintain necessary data to measure progress.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to teach basic money management and budgeting for an individual.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    The Center for Training and Wellness program has employee-to-participant ratio regulations that are managed by a regulatory agency and may require direct care employees identified as part of the employee-to-participant ratio to complete their scheduled work shift without an unpaid meal break being provided.

    This position requires that staffing ratios will be maintained in all areas at all times.

    This position will remain actively engaged and responsible for the active treatment, care and safety of the individuals served.

    Modified work schedules and approved or required overtime is at the discretion of the Program Supervisor and may be changed at any time based upon needs of the individuals served and program requirements.
