Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Accounting typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • Grays Harbor College is seeking a qualified part-time Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) instructor for instructional support in Introduction to Accounting. I-BEST faculty are Transition Department instructors who bring expertise in pre-college fundamentals into the classroom to help students better understand the core material and excel in the program of study. Teaching assignments are based on a quarter system. This position is part of the Transition Department and reports to the Associate Dean of Transitions.

    This is a part-time, non-tenure-track position and not eligible for benefits. The part-time compensation for classroom instruction shall be $821.19 per quarter load hour ($74.65 per contact hr).  Faculty positions at Grays Harbor College have been designated as bargaining unit positions represented by the Grays Harbor College Federation of Teachers, Local 4984.  The faculty union and the college have a bargaining unit agreement (referred to as the contract) that is posted on the GHC website at  https://www.ghc.edu/hr/labor-relations

    • Collaborate with core-class instructor to develop program framework, lesson plans, and assessments.
    • Participate in team-teaching training and utilize that training to implement team-teaching models in the classroom to engage learners. 
    • Contextualize math and workforce preparation skills with the core program curriculum and materials. 
    • Assist students in developing information literacy skills such as finding, interpreting, and correctly applying information necessary to the core class.
    • Help students develop critical thinking skills and their application to problem solving.
    • Assist students in the use of electronic technology such as laptops, calculators, word processing software, the internet, accessing and conducting online course work, etc.
    • Develop and employ effective tools for the assessment of student learning.
    • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments.
    • Design learning experiences and curriculum for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through class lectures, individual instruction, and self-directed learning.
    • Teach to the student learning outcomes of each course and the program. 
    • Use technology to enhance teaching.
    • Develop classroom and/or lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and procedures.
    • Maintain all appropriate records required for state and federal reporting and submit according to announced deadlines.
    • Administer student evaluations as required.

    Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Math, Education, or appropriately related field.
    • Experience (teaching preferred) working with adults from diverse backgrounds and educational levels. 
    • Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
     
    Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in Accounting, Math, Education, or appropriately related field.
    • Knowledge of the I-BEST concept or experience as an I-BEST instructor.
    • Experience developing curriculum
