Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Accounting provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Accounting typically reports to a department head. Chief Purpose of this position:
This position in the Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University will focus on high quality teaching in the areas of Finance, Financial Technology and/or Risk Management and redevelopment of courses focused on Microsoft Excel.
Position Responsibilities:
The instructor will teach courses in the department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate. Courses may include topics of general finance, financial data analytics, derivatives, financial markets and institutions, and financial risk management. The instructor will also work with faculty and school leadership on the development of courses and other training materials on Microsoft Excel for all School of Business students.
Required Qualifications:
A candidate must have an MBA, Masters in Finance or BS with a professional designation from a recognized actuarial organization (e.g., CFA).
Experience fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for employees and students, and a commitment to doing so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant, high level business experience with broad knowledge of business practices in the area of finance, financial analytics, and financial markets. Teaching experience at an undergraduate or graduate level in a business program is preferred.
