The Biology Department at Minneapolis College is committed to excellence in teaching and learning in a student-centered environment. Faculty members collaborate in the delivery of biology courses to support students in their general studies and their degrees in biology, environmental science or healthcare-related sciences.
This position may teach all components of the college’s biology catalog and in all modalities, both lectures and labs.
The successful candidate:
- Teaches with an inclusive and equity-minded approach, using research-informed strategies such as culturally responsive pedagogy and universal design for learning.
- Demonstrates dedication to excellence in teaching and has the desire to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community.
- Teaches all aspects of biology (lecture and lab)
- Has experience teaching in different instructional modes (face-to-face, online and others).
- Regularly develops, reviews, and revises instructional and assessment materials.
- Participates in the assessment of program course and institutional student learning outcomes.
- Serves as a participatory member of the biology division and the greater college community through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings.
Maintains ongoing professional development in biology as well as in the areas of teaching and learning.

Required Qualifications
Must possess or meet minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State colleges and universities credential field of Biology, #500002:

Education Requirement
- Master’s degree with a major in biology or
- Master’s degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in biology.

Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology or related fields.
- Successful experience in teaching pre-health science courses (e.g. anatomy, physiology, nutrition, etc.)
- Experience serving diverse and historically under-served populations.
- Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Proven commitment to student success and program completion.
- Experience with the assessment of student learning outcomes and evaluation.
Collaborative team player who is willing to devote time to student success and the success of the biology program.
