    Position Summary:
    Reports directly to the VP of Academic Affairs. Primary responsibilities include a full-time teaching load in the Industrial Electronics Programs, managing the labs, and working with the VP of Academic Affairs to insure curriculum consistency with industry standards. Course and program assessment, curriculum development, and knowledge of a student and learning-centered environment are necessary. Commitment to an environment in which faculty and students share ownership for learning, trust, high expectations for performance, and mutual respect is expected.

    Specific Responsibilities
    1. Assist with student recruitment, retention, enrollment management and marketing, and establishing relationships with external stakeholders and student prospects.
    2. Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction in a learner centered environment.
    3. Maintain the academic standards and integrity of the program.
    4. Develop, execute, evaluate, and update the course syllabi and provide the Academic Specialist with the most recent official copy in electronic format.
    5. Prepare daily lesson plans, course outlines, and other instructional materials as needed for effective instruction.
    6. Develop, teach, and evaluate all assigned courses incorporating active learning strategies.
    7. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate examinations and other assessment methodologies.
    8. Recommend and order texts and other instructional materials to be used for instructional functions.
    9. Maintain a schedule of available office hours for consultation with students and others as may be required.
    10. Guide and counsel the student in her/his educational adjustments. Refer students for counseling and tutoring when necessary.
    11. Recognize and adapt teaching style to the educational needs of the individual students.
    12. Use a variety of teaching methodologies to promote student learning and success.
    13. Develop strategies to teach the course content including instructional objectives, assignments, textbooks, weight of grades and delivery methods.
    14. Develop and provide to students an approved Belmont standardized syllabus for each course taught.
    15. Successfully deliver each course covering the terminal course objectives found in the syllabus.
    16. Model exceptional verbal and written communication.
    17. Utilize related technology (such as PowerPoint, remote access to syllabi and grades, classroom projection systems, course related software, website content, online courses or course components with interactive capabilities) to enhance learning. Augment the use of open educational resources.
    18. Establish positive classroom relationships with students by being actively engaged in the classroom and lab.
    19. Provide opportunities for in-class discussion and questions and display enthusiasm about the students, the subject matter, and the learning process.
    20. Incorporate higher-level learning (i.e. application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation) by giving students opportunities to develop information literacy and problem-solving skills, and by connecting their current study to lab assignments and previous/future study in the related disciplines.
    21. Communicate tact and impartiality in dealing with students and student related problems.
    22. Demonstrate competency in use of email, voice mail, and word processing.
    23. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate assessment strategies to measure Core Learning Outcomes and direct measures of student learning.
    24. Perform instructional duties as assigned.
    25. Provide instruction at off-campus sites as assigned.
    26. Submit attendance and grades for assigned students electronically as required and maintain appropriate grading documentation.
    27. Plan, attend, and assist with student, faculty, and college activities.
    28. Attend department faculty meetings.
    29. Establish and maintain professional communication and working relationships with all college faculty, administration, and staff.
    30. Serve as a member and/or officer on assigned or voluntary committees, governance teams, and task forces.
    31. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate college policies as delegated by the VP Academic Affairs or as a function of a college governance team.
    32. Assist the VP Academic Affairs in the preparation of course descriptions and instructional schedules.
    33. Recommend curriculum changes and/or revisions that will improve the instructional process. May be assigned to assist in the development of new related proposed programs.
    34. Design, implement, and evaluate a systematic plan for program evaluation in collaboration with the VP Academic Affairs.
    35. Take leadership in all advisory committee functions.
    36. Maintain a clean, professional instructional environment by keeping equipment in proper running order, keeping floors and table tops clean, and promoting proper safety procedures.
    37. Coordinate equipment maintenance.
    38. Maintain inventory of current and needed tools and supplies and oversee procurement and purchasing for the department.
    39. Support new course development.
    40. Maintain expertise in subject area.
    41. Facilitate student professional associations.
    42. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements:
    1. Master’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering or equivalent; and
    2. Areas of concentration sought include electrical fundamentals, programmable controllers, hydraulics/pneumatics, DC and AC machinery, industrial electronics and instrumentation, national electrical code, OSHA, power distribution, and GIS. Not all of the above are required, but the ability to develop and expand new areas of interest is important; and
    3. Minimum of 3 years recent related industry experience; and
    4. Experience in a hands-on setting with a proven safety record in the safe and proper use of hand tools, measuring and testing equipment, and environmental hazards related to the industries; and
    5. Teaching experience in a two-year higher education institution preferred; or
    6. Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties.

    • Commitment to marketing the Engineering, Electronics and Computer Technology programs and recruiting students for the programs.
    • Commitment to working with high school/technical centers to develop seamless transition from high school to Belmont.
    • Commitment to working closely with employers to understand and meet their workforce needs.
    • Willingness to be flexible in responding to changing circumstances and needs such as: teaching at times, locations, and methodologies other than traditional campus schedule and methodologies; exploring and using current and emerging instructional technologies and distance learning technologies.
