      Job Title – Computer Science Teacher

      Reports to: HS Principal, Supervisor of CTE, and Director of Vocational Education and CTE

      Job Purpose: Provide Computer Science instruction to high school students in multiple areas of CTE including, but not limited to, PC Systems, Network Systems, Mobile Technology, Cyber Security, AR/VR, Game Design, Robotics, and Telecommunication Systems. To develop in each student an insight and understanding of industry and its place in our society; to discover and develop talents of students in the technical fields’ to develop practical problem-solving skills related to the materials and processes of industry. To prepare students with the technical skills needed to be successful in the above named, technical field.

      Qualifications - Required
      Appropriate NJ CTE Certification
      Ability to use and instruct students in Information Technology related curriculum
      Demonstrates strong content knowledge
      Ability to differentiate instruction
      Ability to motivate high school students and create hands-on environment for students
      Experience in Computer Science
      Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards
      Ability to integrate technology effectively
      Ability to write and follow lesson plans
      Strong classroom management
      Strong technical ability
      Skill and dexterity in working with tools, materials, and machines
      Ability to speak English clearly and accurately
      Excellent communication skills, oral and written

      Experience with computer programming and network systems
      Cybersecurity training experience
      Experience with augmented reality and virtual reality
      Experience with building PCs and Gaming Systems
      Familiarity with Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching
      Project-based learning experience
      Familiar with CompTIA A and Security certification testing
      Experience teaching multiple areas of Career and Technical Education

      Highlights the pathways to working in the information technology industry
      Keeps informed of the information technology community’s job entry requirements and instructs pupils in the rudiments of getting and retaining these jobs.
      Arranges industry exposure opportunities for students such as field trips, guest presentations, job shadow experiences, internships, etc.
      Establishes and maintains positive contact with multiple organizations related to the Information Technology industry.
      Supports and encourages students to enter and compete in local and national competitions.
      Implements and aligns curriculum and activities to meet the appropriate CTE and academic standards.
      Has an instructional plan which is compatible with the school and district-wide curricular goals as approved by the Board of Education.
      Position text and art elements from a variety of databases in a visually appealing way in order to design print or web pages, using knowledge of type styles and size and layout patterns.
      Supports and encourages students to enter and compete in local and national competitions.
      Scaffold skills and learning experiences appropriately to ensure all learners have access to sophisticated tasks
      Use instructional strategies that consistently address students’ diverse needs by including adaptations, modifications, and differentiation
      Guide students to make connections between classroom learning and their own prior knowledge and experiences
      Coordinate quarterly expeditions throughout the school year to ensure that all students connect and apply their learning to real world STEM experiences
      Instructs pupils in use of eye protection and safety guards, and in the use, care, and safe operation of tools, machines, and equipment.
      Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
      Uses diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment procedures to develop and revise objectives and learning tasks.
