Instructor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Teach CPT/IST classes in-person and/or on-line. Perform adjunct instructor duties related to reporting and recording student attendance and performance. Conducts all teaching and reporting activities with high regard to effective communication and to timely completion of assignments.
Master's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science; or a Master's degree in a related area with 18 graduate semester hours in Information Technology or Computer Science. Knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Windows operating system and current MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) for CPT 170 courses. Knowledge of MS Windows OS installation and Maintenance, Linux, etc., for CPT 285/CPT257
The minimum as listed, plus previous experience teaching IT, networking, or computer service related coursework is desired.; CompTIA A or willingness to obtain is desirable for CPT 285/CPT 257 classes. Previous teaching experience in information technology is a plus especially if it includes experience in an LMS (Learning Management System) such as D2L (Desire2Learn).
