College of Marin seeks a part-time Computer Science instructor to teach the following class during Spring Semester 2024. We are seeking qualified applicants possessing current knowledge and teaching experience in the field of Advanced Java Programming, including polymorphism, encapsulation, interfaces, abstraction, file IO, generics, collections, multithreading, concurrency, client server and network programming with sockets.

COMP 232 – Advanced Programming in JAVA
4.0 Units. (Prerequisite: COMP 130 or 135 or 150, or ENGG 150.) JAVA programming for both computer science majors and computer professionals. Review of JAVA syntax, data types, data structures, exception handling, and object-oriented features including classes, objects, and inheritance. The course will introduce advanced JAVA features including polymorphism, encapsulation, interfaces, abstraction, file IO, generics, collections, multithreading, concurrency, client server and network programming with sockets. Dates: 1/22/24 – 5/24/24 (Finals Week 5/20 – 5/24/24)
Days: Mondays and Wednesdays
Times: Lecture 5:40 - 7:00 pm; Lab 7:10 – 8:30 pm
Campus: Kentfield, CA

REQUIREMENTS
1. A Master's in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or
2. A Bachelor's in either of the above AND a Master's in Mathematics, Cybernetics, Business Administration, Accounting or Engineering; or
3. A Bachelor's in Engineering AND a Master's in Cybernetics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business Administration; or
4. A Bachelor's in Mathematics AND a Master's in Cybernetics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business Administration; or
5. A Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a Master's degree in Information Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Systems; or
6. The equivalent; and
7. Demonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community.

CLEARANCES
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint and tuberculin clearance.

SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $78,832 - $108,565* (see below for part-time instruction breakdown)

• Salaries for part-time instructors are based on the number of units taught and are paid at 95% of the Full-time Faculty Salary Schedule. New part-time instructors will be placed between Step 1, Column 1, and Step 9, Column 5 of the salary schedule, depending on verified background and experience. Salary placement is non-negotiable.

Temporary Part-time Credit Instructor Payment Formula:
1. Monthly: Annual salary (from salary schedule) x # of Units, ÷ 30 units, x 95% = semester payment; divide by five (5) = monthly salary.
2. Per Unit: Annual salary (from salary schedule) x 95%, ÷ 30 units= per unit rate.
