Instructor - Drama teaches courses in the discipline area of drama. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Drama provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Drama typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Minimum Qualifications:
SC certification in Theater or Speech and Drama required with a strong GPA in relevant course work
Expertise in speech fundamentals, acting, dramatic production, and history of the theater
Experience teaching drama at the middle school level preferred
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques in Theater
Experience working with middle school age students preferred
Skills in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public
Strong Technical Theatre background preferred
Ability to collaborate with teachers of other performing and visual arts within the school
Desire and ability to recruit students from the student body to be involved in theatre, including those not in theatre classes
High energy and strong work ethic
Outstanding references from current/former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

Length of Contract: 190 days
Starting Date: 2022 - 2023 School Year
