Instructor - Drama teaches courses in the discipline area of drama. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Drama provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Drama typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Description of Position:
    Provide course instruction in Drama classes in accordance with course outlines. Classes may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Theatre, Technical Theatre Production/Stagecraft, Theatre Appreciation, Acting, and Stage Production Director.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
    2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
    3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
    4. meeting with students outside of class;
    5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
    6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
    7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
    8. maintaining accurate academic records;
    9. performing other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
    Master's or Master of Fine Arts in Drama/Theatre Arts/PerformanceOR
    Bachelor's or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama/Theatre Arts/PerformanceANDMaster's in Comparative Literature, English, Communication Studies, Speech, Literature, or Humanities OR the equivalent
    Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Substantial formal training, experience, and interest in teaching one or more of the theatre courses listed above.
    • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
    • Ideal candidates will possess extraordinary interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, a passion for teaching, and the ability to effectively communicate with students to help them achieve their educational goals.
