The University of New
Mexico (UNM), located in Albuquerque, is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving

Department of Economics at the University of New Mexico invites applications
for a full-time, 9-month continuing appointment at the rank of Lecturer III to
begin August 1, 2024. The position is renewable through annual review and
entails a teaching load with a service component and no expectation of
research/scholarly activities.
The department seeks to hire an individual committed to
teaching excellence and inclusion, who is expected to teach large introductory
economics classes and other undergraduate courses based on program needs and
the successful candidate's expertise and interests. In addition, the successful candidate will be
a fully integrated member of the faculty, contributing to the quality and growth
of the undergraduate program, including participating in curriculum
development, program assessment, student recruitment and mentorship, service at
the department and university level, and cultivation of an inclusive and
diverse undergraduate community.
Lecturers are an integral part of the department with
opportunities for promotion to higher ranks within the track (Senior Lecturer,
Principal Lecturer), longer term contracts, and eligibility for paid academic

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in Economics or related field completed by start date of appointment (August 1, 2024)
2. Experience teaching economics or a related subject

1. Demonstrated or potential excellence in teaching undergraduates from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
2. Ability to teach across different instruction modalities and class sizes, with a focus on large-enrollment introductory courses
3. Ability to help grow and deliver a high-quality undergraduate program through course and curriculum development
4. Ability to make a positive contribution to the undergraduate program in terms of community building and active student engagement outside of the classroom
5. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success working with broadly diverse communities
6. Enthusiasm for proactively engaging in faculty meetings and decision-making processes
