The Bradford YMCA is looking for evening Group Exercise/Fitness Instructors!
POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructs group classes, provides excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
This position also treats everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration; displays integrity; listens actively and genuinely; communicates in a clear and pleasant manner; embraces differences among people; demonstrates an active willingness to learn and grow; accepts constructive criticism; works cooperatively as a team member.
Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Leads group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
2. Conducts energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.
3. Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
4. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
5. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
7. This job description may not be all-inclusive and duties may be modified when deemed appropriate by the CEO. Employees are expected to perform all other duties as assigned and directed by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certification from an accredited organization (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction OR YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification OR completion of in-house mentoring program under supervision of selected Wellness staff.
2. Certification in areas of expertise.
3. YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 6 months of hire.
4. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.
