Being an Instructor - Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Education typically reports to a department head. Cal-Wood Education Center is a non-profit bringing kids and families together with nature, driven by outstanding environmental education programming. We are located in a 1,200-acre scenic mountain setting 15 miles northwest of Boulder in Jamestown, Colorado.
Cal-Wood is seeking energetic, adaptable and positive applicants for an exciting and rewarding position leading environmental education programs: night hikes, campfires and indoor science programs. Individuals may also be invited to train and serve as a substitute field instructor on weekdays leading team building, hands-on science education and outdoor recreation if they'd like. Position starts late February and runs through the end of May, with the possibility to continue in the fall.
Responsibilities include:
Facilitate dinners
Lead evening programs such as night hikes, campfires and indoor naturalist programs. 4 hour gig, 5:30-9:30 M-Th.
Assist with outdoor education programs with school groups as a substitute field instructor. No overnight supervision necessary. 1-3 day gigs available.
Training is provided in hosting campfires, leading night hikes, facilitating meals, and conducting indoor science programs.

Qualifications / Requirements:
Strong desire and ability to work effectively with students from a variety of backgrounds and ages.
Ability to be loud, fun and silly with a large student audience during campfires.
Reliable and punctual, with strong communication skills.
Bachelor's Degree (ideally in science, natural resource management, education, outdoor education, or other related field).
Experience working with kids.
Ability to pass background checks.
Spanish ability is highly desired, but not mandatory.
Must have reliable vehicle that can handle dirt roads and snow.
Compensation: $20/hour. Meals included when working programs.
