Being an Instructor - Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Education typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     The YMCA of Pueblo is looking for Seasonal Staff for our Resident Camp and Outdoor Education Center at Camp Jackson. Do you have a passion for working with children? Do you love the outdoors? Join our team of dedicated professionals in the beautiful San Isabel National Forest for an incredible experience serving students and retreat groups this spring. Camp Jackson, a branch of the YMCA of Pueblo, is located in Rye, CO.

    Camp Jackson is looking for Outdoor Education instructors who will enthusiastically represent the YMCA by displaying a positive attitude, maintain a high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job through the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Outdoor Education Instructors will assist the Camp Director in providing quality programs that are safe, fun and encourage guests to grow and learn in a supportive environment. Camp Jackson serves hundreds of students during the spring season and provides them with unique and memorable experiences learning in a gorgeous mountain setting. This position will help prepare and facilitate programs for elementary and middle school groups.  This is a seasonal position. 

     

    Summer Season: 05/25/2024-08/02/2024 

     

    Pay Rate: $18.00/hour plus Room & Board

    Qualifications

    • At least 18 years of age
    • Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification required
    • Previous outdoor education or summer camp experience preferred
    • High School Diploma required; College degree preferred
    • Minimum of three months of full time or equivalent part time satisfactory and verifiable experience with middle school age children and teens. Six months is preferred.
    • Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth and should relate well to all age levels and backgrounds of people.
    • Develop and facilitate lessons that teach leadership, counseling skills and camp program skills
    • Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
    • Physically fit and able to hike, walk, stand, bend and lift comfortable over the course of a day
    • Mentally and visually alert to recognize potential hazards and accidents
    • Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer emergency care effectively
