    Allen College seeks to hire an Instructor and Undergraduate Nursing Clinical Coordinator faculty member for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

    Allen College is seeking candidates for a full-time instructor and undergraduate nursing clinical coordinator faculty position beginning August 2024. The faculty member shall hold an academic faculty appointment at the rank commensurate with education and experience (Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor).

    In compliance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security report containing three previous years of crime statistics, institutional policies concerning campus safety, and a fire safety report.     Responsibilities
    1. Participates with guidance in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of individual courses and the overall curriculum within the college.
    2. Participates in faculty development, governance and College decision making.
    3. Participates in faculty organization committees.
    4. Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships between College and clinical agencies.
    5. Teaches (with direction and guidance of administration or teacher of higher rank):
    • Classroom and clinical preparation, instruction, supervision and evaluation.
    • Coordination and supervision of students' clinical experiences consistent with established standards of care and course/program objectives.
    • Other activities directly related to the academic program.
    1. Serves as academic advisor for students.
    2. Participates in professional activity and community service.
    3. Participates in scholarly activities which includes attendance and participation in meetings, conferences and conventions of professional associations.
    4. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean to schedule clinical groups to appropriate clinical units/settings in a timely and organized manner.
    5. Utilizes appropriate computer technology and software.
    6. Collaborates with administration and education secretary to maintain clinical records as necessary for approvals and accreditation.
    7. Reviews the quality and appropriateness of undergraduate nursing clinical sites in collaboration with academic faculty.
    8. Initiates and maintains communication and correspondence with clinical sites/agencies; annual site visits with UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital nurse leaders and others as necessary.
    9. Consistently attends all scheduled Nursing Faculty Organization meetings providing updates and reports as necessary.
    10. Consistently attends all Undergraduate Nursing Curriculum Committee meetings.
    11. Plans, implements and evaluates clinical student learning experiences in collaboration with Assistant Dean, nursing faculty and clinical agency representatives.
    12. Initiates and maintains clinical contracts through relationship building, facilitating agency orientations and troubleshooting clinical placement conflicts.
    13. Coordinates required onboarding for new clinical faculty and clinical instructors (Cis), as needed.
    14. Acts as liaison to interpret and match needs to students and faculty to agencies with appropriate learning experiences.
    15. Assumes responsibility for complex communication and problem solving to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside the College.
    16. Arranges clinical placement for undergraduate nursing students in a variety of settings (hospitals, non-profit agencies, clinics, community health settings, schools, long-term care facilities, home care, etc.) throughout and beyond the Cedar Valley.
    17. Coordinates compliance requirements for clinical rotations within and outside of UnityPoint Health, including access to electronic health records and medication dispensers as appropriate.
    18. Represents programs at appropriate meetings with clinical sites.
    19. Attends UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital and Allen College collaboration meetings.
    20. Collaborates with Assistant Dean to coordinate expansion of clinical sites and outreach activities as appropriate for the programs/tracks.
    21. Participates in the Undergraduate Nursing Advisory Committee.
    22. Completes other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Nursing.
    23. Demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of Allen College and adheres to College policies, procedures and guidelines.
    24. Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health FOCUS Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies, procedures and guidelines.
    25. Works effectively with the daily mental and physical stresses of the job which includes, but not limited to meeting deadlines, attending meetings, completing compliance requirements, meeting and working with staff, faculty, students and the public.

    Qualifications
    1. A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
    2. A minimum of two years of teaching experience in nursing program discipline OR two years clinical experience in nursing.
    3. Current clinical skills and demonstrated competency in practice.
    4. Evidence of ability in teaching as indicated by others in the field or promising potential to teach.
    5. Demonstrated beginning ability to do scholarly work appropriate to the individual's field.
    6. Evidence of involvement in professional activity and community service.
    7. Current license or permit to practice their profession in the state of Iowa.
