POSITION SUMMARY
The position involves daily production engineering support dealing with issues that arise from the installation and integration of shipboard electronics. Other key aspects involve limited design, troubleshooting, and problem-solving support for electrical power plant design on a government-funded ship design program. Work closely with the Engineering Departments as well as with Production, Project & Program Management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: 5 years of electrical shipbuilding experience required in the Marine electrical field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Working knowledge of control systems, electrical system arrangements, and cable routing. Experienced with reading ship construction drawings as they pertain to electrical systems/component installations to aid in problem-solving and troubleshooting issues brought up by production. Experience with ABS NVR is highly desired.
Skills: Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, display attention to detail, and function as a team player.

This job operates in a field office environment collocated by the vessels under construction. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work on the ship with production dealing with questions and issues involving engineering ship construction documents/drawings. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the field office environment is low to moderate. While supporting production issues the employee will be in a ship production environment daily and will wear appropriate PPE, steel toe boots, and hearing protection are required.
