Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Electrical Engineering typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    To provide classroom instruction for Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses. Provides innovate and creative, commitment to STEM education, and an overall passion for project, problem-based learning with real world application. Ensures all students acquire the course level objectives set forth in the National PLTW Curriculum. Works with school principal and administrative staff to design and create plans of learning aligned with PLTW. Monitors and reports student progress and/or response to planned program of PLTW instruction and adjusts as needed to increase student reading achievement. Collaborate with instructional teams and administrators to increase student learning and positive, nurturing environment.

     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • If not certified to teach selected courses, will train to become certified to teach selected courses.
    • Prepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements of PLTW, State, and school.
    • Plan lessons and assign homework; grade students work and evaluate their ability to communicate with others and work in groups.
    • Administer and grade test while staying current with state and local standards for PLTW.
    • Prepare students for standardized test, working within the parameters of state and local requirements, and provide diagnostic feedback.
    • Meet one on one with students to improve performance and address behavioral issues.
    • Hold conferences with parents and guardians as needed.
    • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
    • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in while meeting course and school-wide student performance goals.
    • Participate in ongoing training sessions and professional development.
    • Create projects designed to enhance teaching subject material and Paideia.

    Key Competencies:

    • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Math, Science, Physics, Industrial Technologies or a four-year degree in the field of Engineering.  
    • Hold and maintain state certification in education preferred.
    • Meet South Carolina requirements for Highly Qualified teachers preferred.
    • Three to Five years teaching experience preferred but not required.
    • If selected for this position, the successful candidate will agree to become a PLTW instructor teaching the nationally certified STEM curriculum.
