Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - English typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     SUMMARY: The faculty member is responsible to provide instruction to groups of students using available learning resources. Each faculty member will develop individual lesson plans and implement instructional strategies to meet the objectives of each course taught and to meet the instructional guidelines specified in the course syllabi.

    The faculty member must uphold the philosophy and mission of CAU while instilling positive and progressive attitudes in all students.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS include but are not limited to the following:

    COMPLIANCE:
    •    Responsible for compliance with all local, state, accreditation and federal regulations.
    •    Ensure that all employees and students are held accountable to the company’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
    •    Ensure completeness, accuracy, and security of campus files, documents and reports.
    •    Review all necessary policies and procedures to ensure a culture of compliance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    •    Follow objectives of course syllabus as provided by CAU.
    •    Prepare and implement day-by-day course outline.
    •    Prepare lesson plans and required materials for each day’s instruction.
    •    Record daily attendance and communicate potential concerns.
    •    Promote a positive learning environment in the classroom.
    •    Assist students individually upon request.
    •    Motivate and encourage students to attend class regularly and apply themselves to their course of study.
    •    Maintain clear and consistent communication using a variety of teaching methods.
    •    Participate in the school retention plan by maintaining a proactive and mentoring relationship with the students and by contacting and providing help to absent students.
    •    Administer exams and issue grades objectively to reflect student performance.
    •    Maintain record book on each student to include grading and attendance.
    •    Ensure that all students are held accountable to CAU rules and regulations.
    •    Attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings as prescribed by academics administration on campus.
    •    Recommend improvements in course design, materials, equipment, and facilities that may enhance student’s learning experiences and preparation for employment.
    •    Develop and implement an annual professional development plan to enhance career growth.
    •    Arrange field trips, class projects, class speakers, etc. to promote hands-on learning and exposure to professional work environments.
    •    Instruct students in laboratory safety procedures if applicable.
    •    Participate, promote and attend school functions such as graduation ceremonies and in-service workshops.
    •    Participate in academic support programs and student professional associations when possible.
    •    Participate, promote and attend curriculum review meetings as requested by academics administration on campus.
    •    Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Master Degree in English or closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit  hours in English. Four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
    Ability to interact in a pleasant and professional manner with all types of people. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, set and meet deadlines and manage unexpected situations. Previous experience beneficial. Strong technology skills necessary. Management and/or supervisory training preferred.

    TRAVEL DEMANDS:
    Travel to various conferences and/or trainings may require overnight stays, and the number of nights is dictated by company and/or by the schedule of events.
    This individual must have the ability to travel to various locations as necessary. Must have vehicle suitable to safe and secure transportation. This individual may be required to transport company documents and/or company assets.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business communications, financial reports, legal documents, and some government reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to students, top management and/or public groups.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
