We are searching for an engaging, passionate, UB English Instructor Part-Time Temporary to help lead our College during this ever-changing Community College environment.

Essential Functions:

The program’s instructor works closely with the Upward Bound & Upward Bound Rural (UB/UBR) Project Directors to ensure success in meeting the program’s purpose and objectives by providing instruction and guidance to all students who enroll in such classes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach high school courses in Reading/Writing, Literature, Language/Composition, and Public Speaking appropriate to their field or discipline.
• Create daily/weekly lesson plans for instruction.
• Monitor and keep a daily log of student attendance, behavior, and academic development.
• Assess teaching and learning outcomes and provide essential feedback to Program Directors.
• Develop of curriculum and provide a written evaluation of each participant enrolled in the class.
• Guide students in the areas of social and personal growth.
• Be on time for classes and notify the Program Directors as early as possible of an unscheduled absence.
• Provide lesson assignments and any other necessary materials or equipment for a substitute teacher.
• Report students' behavior problems as they arise.

Environment:

Conduct job functions on the Coastal Bend College campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Arts with a major in English or related field preferred.
Previous teaching experience in high school or at a college level in appropriate discipline.
Ability to implement web-based technology applications into instruction.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate sensitivity towards the target area population and teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Education Degree Equals Bachelor's Details Equals Training in tutoring strategies and techniques for secondary populations is preferred. Previous experience teaching/tutoring/participating in a TRIO program.
