Being an Instructor - English provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - English typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Job Summary/Basic Function
    This faculty member primarily teaches English courses offered at Bay College's Iron Mountain Campus as well as at area high school campuses, including Rhetoric and Composition, Rhetoric and Composition co-requisite support courses, and Research Writing. Opportunities may be available to teach other courses as qualified and needed, however.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Master's degree in English or at least 18 graduate credits in English
    • Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success
    • Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy
    • Ability to provide diverse learning experiences to diverse student populations
    • Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications
    • Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in teaching courses at the postsecondary level, preferably in a community college setting
    • Experience with active and collaborative learning strategies
