    Summary:

    This position is in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences. The position is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure-track position in the Department of English and Foreign Languages. Perspective employees must be committed to teaching first generation college students from diverse backgrounds at various skill levels.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Teach undergraduate courses in Composition (primarily).
    • Participate in the activities of the department, college, and university including recruitment and new course development.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:


    Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

    • Master's degree in English or an allied field.
    • Master's degree in Secondary Education with 18 semester hours in English/Language Arts is a plus.
    • At least one (1) to three (3) of teaching experience at the college level Composition 101 and 102.
    • Must have evidence of excellence in teaching.
    • Experience in teaching developmental writing and/or speech is a plus.
    • Highly desirable that candidates be familiar with innovative teaching techniques and best practices in pedagogy.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent classroom and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with university colleagues within a diverse environment.
    • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in assessment of writing and critical thinking.
    • Ability to be adaptable, collegial, and dedicated to student centered and writing intensive teaching.
