Position summary:

Position responsibilities:

This is a nine-month faculty position beginning August, 2024.  A full load consists of 15 contact hours, and 10 office hours.  English faculty members teach and supervise all learning experiences and evaluate student performance in the classroom. It is expected that all instructors participate in committee work, professional development activities, student recruitment and retention activities, and record keeping.  Responsibilities of this position will include teaching dual credit courses on high school campuses and may include teaching developmental courses. All full time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year of employment.

Requirements

A mastery of the English language, a commitment to excellence in teaching at the community college level, and a master’s degree or higher with a minimum of eighteen graduate hours in English are required.  Preference may be given to applicants with college-level teaching experience, online teaching experience and/or experience teaching developmental English.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
• No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

• Compensation for this 9-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $43,000 for a master’s degree to $49,880 for a doctorate. Overload and summer classes are paid separately.    

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
