Instructor - English teaches courses in the discipline area of English. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - English provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - English typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • St. John Paul II Catholic High School seeks a candidate for a full time high school English teacher. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, flexible, current in the latest teaching methods, technologically savvy, and has good classroom management. This candidate collaborates well with other staff members and must be certified in Florida or in another state. Candidates must pass all required fingerprinting and background checks as required by the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee and the State of Florida.

    Instruct 4-5 sections of High School level English courses, possibly including Advanced Placement levels.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum of three years teaching experience at the high school level

    Bachelor’s degree or secondary education

    Florida Teaching Certificate or eligible to obtain a Florida Teaching Certificate

    Level II Background Screening

    Requirements:

    Clearly plans for and implements projects, problem-based learning opportunities , instructional technology, and incorporates resources from a variety of viewpoints and experts.

    Assesses students with appropriate measures, including performance assessments, process assessments, narratives, and rubrics.

    Maintains a safe, secure, interactive, respectful, and healthy educational environment ; follows, establishes, and enforces school standards and procedures and complies with legal requirements.

    Interacts positively with parents, students, other faculty, resource staff, and partners in education while establishing consistent and ongoing communication processes.

    Fosters a collaborative environment in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the school.

    Participates fully in professional development opportunities, meetings, school events, and conferences.

    • Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement
    • Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and learning styles in order to meet the individual needs of students
