Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Environmental Engineering typically reports to a department head.     Title:  Engineering Technician Instructor (2024-2025 School Year)

     

    Reports  to:  Principal

     

    Work Schedule: 185-Day Contract

     

    Primary Job Function:

    • The Delaware Area Career Center Career-Technical Teacher is responsible for leading and developing student skills sufficient to qualify them for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education.  The Career-Technical Teacher will provide instruction and support in a variety of instructional settings according to DACC and state approved career-technical education courses of study and curriculum.  This is also done through student-faculty engagement, fostering cooperation among students, active listening, timely feedback, high expectations and respecting diverse talents and learning styles of all students and other colleagues.  This job description is a comprehensive list of essential functions.  Essential functions are job duties a staff member must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Valid Ohio CTE license or ability to obtain
    • Proper endorsements and/or certifications required by content area
    • Minimum of 5-years experience preferred in the field of engineering or related job experiences
    • Experience preferred with PLC's, CNC, Hydraulics, and willingness to obtain relevant industry certifications

    Knowledge & Pedagogy:

    • Career-Tech teachers demonstrate subject area knowledge and convey the knowledge clearly to students.
    • Career-Tech teachers use comprehensive planning skills to design effective instruction focused on student mastery of DACC curriculum goals for Career Technical Education
    • Career-Tech teachers monitor workforce trends and training needs. They evaluate the relevance of new technology.
    • Career-Tech teachers will provide instruction that is appropriately paced and directed to specific occupational skills
    • Career-Tech teachers will instruct students in appropriate job-seeking and retention skills
    • Career-Tech teachers engage students in complex problem-solving and the exploring of ideas and issues in classroom activities.

    Classroom Environment:

    • Career-Tech teachers maintain a classroom environment appropriate and engaging for career-technical education.
    • Career-Tech teachers create a classroom climate that promotes openness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. This should be done through:

    Student Assessment:

    • Career-Tech teachers will evaluate student progress and prepare necessary progress reports
    • Career-Tech teachers will provide assessments of student job readiness.
    • Career-Tech teachers will analyze data to inform instructional practices
    • Career-Tech teachers will guide students in making career-related decisions
    • Career-Tech teachers will assist in finding job placement for students who have been assessed as ready for job placement
    • Career-Tech teachers will follow the DACC assessment guidelines.

    • Teachers are responsible for planning and using appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for e-learning according to guidelines established by DACC
