Southeastern is currently seeking a History Teacher. This is a full-time, school year position that reports to the Academic Supervisor for Humanities. Position Responsibilities:
- Meets and instructs assigned students/classes in the location(s) and at the times determined by administration.
- Incorporates a variety of teaching strategies that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Demonstrates culturally responsive teaching and teaches history in a way that showcases and values diverse perspectives.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is appropriate to the maturity of the students in the class, and responsive to their interests.
- Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of administrative personnel.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and methodology.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keeps accurate and timely records of student achievement, and provides reports of student grades and progress as required.
- Respects student confidentiality in all contact with any third party.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation and direction.
- Collaborates effectively with co-teachers and other staff members.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Conveys a high standard of personal deportment and attire.
- Communicates with parents as needed to assure and encourage student progress.
- Plans and promotes integration activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- The candidate must satisfy and maintain the appropriate license of a 9-12 History Teacher through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Sufficient proficiency with technology required to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Such alternatives as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
